A Bit About Me
​
Taylor Turner is the senior editor of digital storytelling at The Examination. As a visual storyteller and strategist, Taylor holds the belief that journalism is a tool for discussion and difference. Her expansive coverage encompasses a range of topics, including international and breaking news, natural disasters, travel, food, entertainment, sports, and U.S. presidential elections.
She has conducted anti-corruption and journalism training in Angola and reported from China and South Korea. Prior to joining The Examination, Taylor worked as a video journalist and producer at The New York Times, The Washington Post and in network broadcast television at ABC News. In 2016, she won the Edward R. Murrow Award Winner for Overall Excellence in Television and Radio alongside her ABC News colleagues.
Taylor is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, where she has moderated panels during the organization’s national convention. She is also a Poynter Leadership Academy for Women Alumna, Pulitzer Center Grant recipient, Emma Bowen Foundation Scholar, Bill Archer Fellow and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
A native Texan, Taylor graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and Bachelors of Journalism. She earned her Master of Arts in Film, Television and Video Production from American University. Taylor is an avid traveler, professional bodybuilder and adjunct lecturer at the University of Houston and New York University.
